This month’s featured roast comes from the folks at Try Hard Coffee. Based in Texas, the music-loving team decided to partner with local musicians to create coffees that are meant to be consumed while listening to the band's records to create “a full sensory experience.”
“This coffee is a collaboration with Austin-based experimental rock group the Octopus Project. Their sound is light, bright, and complex. We've chosen a Peruvian and Ethiopian coffee to bring those characteristics to life.” -Raechel, Try Hard Coffee
- Tasting notes: Blueberry, strawberry, sugar cane
- Origin: Peru-La Libertad, La Coipa and Ethiopia-Guji, Uraga
- Varietal: 74112, Caturra, Catuai, Castillo
- Process: Washed, Natural
Looking for brew tips? This coffee is suitable for all kinds of coffee lovers and machines, roasted with the idea that anyone should be able to take a bag home and brew up a tasty cup. But if you’re looking for tips, here’s how Raechel from Try Hard Coffee likes to take it: “We currently brew most of our coffees at a 1:17 ratio. We enjoy this coffee brewed on a Kalita Wave. 25g coffee in, 380g water poured over top. It also makes a juicy espresso at 21g in 40g out, and 28 sec brew time.” And of course, for best results pair with Minor Figures Barista Oat to draw out the unique flavours and characteristics of the espresso!
